Women's speaker Series
being a womanWhat does being a woman mean? A human, a female, capable of bearing children? A daughter, a sister, a wife? Or all of those, and more? Are we suppose to wear make-up, dresses or high heels that hurt your feet to show we are more? Shop often and wear new clothes to show we are more? No. Not for me. For me, being a woman means having a strong sense of identity, accepting my body as one that adapts and changes over time, being confident and building up the people in my life. In my life I grew up without my mother, she passed away since I was young and my female support system raised me until now.

I’m 30 years old and my whole life I have been surrounded by women who lift me up. It is important for us as women to know we don't need to prove to anyone, even each other, that we are more. We are enough as we are, beautiful and strong as we are, just by being ourselves. A strong sisterhood means we are there for each other by giving and receiving instead of competing. Being a woman means you can be anything or everything that you want to be, being able to raise your voice on behalf of those who can’t, standing alongside other women to show that they matter and not being ashamed of crying when that is the only thing that will make a difficult situation feel manageable. Yes, there are times that I feel like I have to fight harder for things or I feel like I am not enough. However, I have made a promise to me, that when times are hard in life, I won't give-up and I will keep loving myself and accepting myself as the person I am. I promise the woman in me to take care of my mental health, to be aware of my self-worth and recognize it is significant. I am so powerful and capable of taking on a lot and balancing my time and attention between my family, my job, my business and myself. Each day I strive to be independent in business and work, a loving wife and a good friend. I am beautiful, clever, graceful, elegant, grand, admirable, amazing, bright and superb.
I count on me. I am a not only a woman, I am a superwoman.
And you are too.
